Asitha was educated in London and Sri Lanka where he learned ancient Greek. His interest in this subject continued through school and led him to read Classics at Bristol University. After receiving a master’s degree in directing at the California Institute of the Arts, he returned to London to write and make films.
His second film DO NOT ERASE won the short film BAFTA in 2007. A collection of his short stories WEDDING GIFTS & OTHER PRESENTS was published in Sri Lanka in July 2008. His third short film - 14 - has been endorsed by the NSPCC. It won the Prix UIP Cork in 2008 and is nominated for an European Film Award in 2009.
He is currently developing two feature film screenplays, one set in Tijuana, the other in Yorkshire. Information about his film projects can be found at www.punchifilms.com.
