In addition to Guiding Lights, Nick spent six months on the UK Film Council's First Feature Development Programme, receiving development assistance with his fantasy comedy GURK THE SLAYER! The script was also recently selected for the London Screenwriters' Festival's Advanced Mentoring Programme with Disney/Pixaar screenwriter David Reynolds (FINDING NEMO, etc.) GURK is currently optioned by the former Head of Development at Aardman Animation, Sue Breen.
MINDBENDER won the Gold prize in the 2008 PAGE International Awards. It also earned him a recommendation from Working Title Films, leading to him gaining representation from Matt Connell at Berlin Associates.
Nick's psychological horror screenplay THE GOOD PEOPLE recently made the 2011 Brit List. It is currently being produced by Purnima Ramadorai and Escape Films (IN OUR NAME).
CALIBURN reached the final 10 in the 2008 Final Draft Big Break contest and won the Genre Category in the Creative Screenwriting Magazine/LA Screenwriters' Expo contest gaining him representation with Geoff Alexander at 6-17 Management in LA.
He came second in Big Break's 2007 contest with his screenplay KNIGHT KNIGHT, winning him a trip to LA to receive an award and meet with industry professionals including Oliver Stone. The contest judges included the writers of such films as STAND BY ME, STARMAN, MR & MRS SMITH, XMEN 3, JUMPER and GOLDENEYE. Nick recently co-produced KNIGHT KNIGHT with Hermit Films.
Nick's short THAT THING YOU DREW premiered at the 2010 Palm Springs International Film Festival. It won the jury prize in Malta's Kinemastik film festival, the audience award at the Warsaw, and an honourary mention in the Los Angeles film festival. It has also been shown at BFI London, London Shorts, Brest and Montreal.
His short FUNDAY was produced by DotMov and directed by fellow Guiding Lights mentee Keri Collins. Tony Grisoni described the film as “Deliciously melancholic.” It was selected for the 2011 Raindance Film Festival, International Film Festival Manhattan and others. The script was a finalist in the CTBF John Brabourne Awards.
