After completing a Dramatic Arts degree at Bretton Hall College (Leeds University) where she trained as an actress and directed theatre, Rachel came to London and wrote and directed her first short film in 1994: THE WHITE ROOM. With this she got into the Royal College of Art to do a 2 year MA in film direction from ‘95-‘97.
There she wrote and directed three more shorts and after graduating made a further three with region funders. She has won seven awards in total for these shorts, including Clermont Ferrand, Brest and DepicT. Her short FUEL was funded by FILM FOUR and was distributed in front of the Film Four feature CRUSH in cinema’s nationwide. Her eight short was recently made through the Skillset FilmLab take two at the Actors Centre.
Rachel directed various television programmes between 2001 and 2004. She won a BAFTA in 2002 for the BBC drama OFFSIDE and an RTS in 2004 for GIRLS IN LOVE, Granada.
Interviewed by Gilles Jacob and other prominent film figures in 2000 Rachel was accepted onto the first screenwriting residency in Paris, called the Cinefondation - funded by Cannes film festival. She attended this between Oct 2001 and Feb 2002.

Since 2004 she has been pursuing her own work again. She teaches film whilst screenwriting. She has a completed feature script, BAD STOCK, developed by the late Catherine Wearing and is currently working on a number of other features she would like to direct. She has also been chosen to be one of the 25 filmmakers in the BFI 'Think - Shoot - Distribute' in Oct 08
