Ula started out as a camera assistant and clapper loader working on a wide variety of films including Dirty Pretty Things and Notes on a Scandal. A recent cinematography graduate of the NFTS she gone on to photograph numerous music promos, short films and documentaries. Ula was also the 2nd Unit DoP and Main Unit Camera Operator on the award-winning feature Outlanders, which received its theatrical release in October 2008.
Having made London her home after being born and bred in Poland, Ula’s taste ranges from mainstream independent to the arthouse. Much of her work has taken place abroad including recent projects in Germany, Sicily and China. The latter, a short documentary about impoverished jade diggers in the remote Xinjiang region of western China, was particularly demanding. A harsh climate, a sensitive subject matter and 100% covert shooting presented unique challenges. This visual documentary which Ula has shot and directed called "China's Wild West" will receive its World Premier at the Sundance Film Festival 2009.
Throughout her life Ula has also continued to develop as a stills photographer which informs and supports her cinematography career, whether narrative fiction or factual documentary.
